Full Professorship (W3)
Design and Urbanism

starting winter semester 2015/16.
We are looking for candidates with a PhD or equivalent in architecture, urban studies, urban planning or a relevant related area, with proven experience in professional practice, academic research and teaching, and with outstanding academic and professional achievements. The candidates relevant professional projects should demonstrate his/her excellent abilities in urban design. The successful candidate will teach principles, methods and concepts in urban design projects, give lectures and seminars, and to provide methodological education in both undergraduate and masters degree programs in the Department of Architecture and in the interdisciplinary European Master of Science program Mundus Urbano, which specializes in International Cooperation in Urban Development. The academic research of the candidate covers global urbanization processes and their economic, social and cultural aspects, which in turn are reflected in his/her practical planning and design background.
The successful candidate must have experience in third-party fundraising, university administration and is expected to recruit and advise PhD students. The candidates willingness to adapt to the specific focus and teaching forms of a creative and technically oriented program is particularly welcome. Also expected is close cooperation with the various disciplines of the Faculty of Architecture and appropriate cooperation with other departments of TU Darmstadt.
Fluency in English is essential for this position. In case the candidate is not fluent in German, he/she should be willing to acquire a working knowledge of German within a relatively short period of time. Fluency in other European languages is an additional advantage.
The position is tenured with a remuneration package commensurate with experience and qualifications, following the German W-Besoldung. The regulations for employment are specified under §§ 61 and 62 HHG (Hessisches Hochschulgesetz).
The Technische Universität Darmstadt intends to increase the number of female faculty members and encourages female candidates to apply. In case of equal qualifications applicants with a degree of disability of at least 50 or equal will be given preference.
